Jake Hill doubled up at Oulton Park with his second Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship success of Cheshire Mouldings Race Day on the Island circuit this afternoon (Sunday).
Hill, who started from pole position following his victory for Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport, was never headed in the race, leading impressively from the front in his BMW 330e M Sport. Hill made a strong start and immediately assumed control at the head of the order with Ash Sutton's NAPA Racing UK Ford settling once again into second position.
The race was briefly interrupted and extended to 17 laps following an off-track moment for Will Powell's Honda Civic. But upon resumption, Hill once again commanded the field from the front to return to the top step of the podium. Behind that, Sutton was pressured at times by reigning champion Tom Ingram's Hyundai, but no obvious opportunities to pass arose.
Instead, Ingram found himself dropping back towards four-time champion Colin Turkington as the race wore on. Northern Irishman Turkington enjoyed another spirited outing following his drive from 27th to ninth in race one. The Team BMW ace scythed through the order to fourth and was right on Ingram's tail when he made contact with his rival's bumper late on and damaged the front of his car.
As Turkington's bid for the podium faded with damage, he was left to hold on for fourth, just doing so from Josh Cook who completed the top-five for One Motorsport with Starline Racing.
It was Ricky Collard who occupied fourth place for much of the early race, but his defense was eventually broken by Turkington as he worked his way up the order. Dan Cammish in another of the NAPA Racing UK Fords was next to attempt a pass on Collard and he did so with a bold move on the inside of the Toyota at Old Hall. This caused Collard to lose ground not just to Cammish but also Cook and Dan Lloyd.
Cammish eventually finished behind Cook in sixth whilst a hard charging Adam Morgan claimed seventh ahead of Lloyd. Collard finished eighth after surviving a moment of contact with Stephen Jelley at Knickerbrook. With Jelley dropping down the order, Collard's Toyota teammate Rory Butcher was clear to complete the top-10.
