The 2023 Oulton Park Gold Cup on 28-30 July will feature a special celebration of two-time Grand Prix World Champion Jim Clark, twice a winner of the Cheshire circuit’s signature event. This celebration comes 60 years after the iconic Scottish driver won the first of his two titles in 1963.
The celebrations will be hosted in partnership with the Jim Clark Trust, which oversees the official museum dedicated to the driver in Duns, Scottish Borders. The Trust will be present all weekend, with an official stand and presence at the event.
Highlight attractions will include the display of a Lotus 25 Grand Prix car, as raced by Clark to his maiden Formula 1 title as well as his Gold Cup victories in 1962 and ’63. The iconic classically modelled single-seater will appear alongside a Lotus Cortina, as driven by the Clark in the British Saloon Car Championship when not in international action.
Both cars will be showcased in the Oulton Park Exhibition which will feature a curated selection of artworks, photos and more to celebrate Clark. This will include a commissioned painting from local artist Stephen Jones, which will be revealed to the Trust at a special reception on Friday night. Visitors to Oulton Park on Saturday and Sunday will be able to view the exclusive artwork before it moves to its permanent home with the Trust in Scotland.
Other opportunities for fans to engage with the Trust will include Jim Clark Trust merchandise and memorabilia, whilst Sunday morning will feature a Q&A with Clark’s nephew and cousin. A book launch is also planned, with full timings to be shared in due course.
